The Tomorrow Show: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo
Two DVD set featuring separate interviews of John, Paul, and Ringo with Tom Snyder on The Tomorrow Show. The interviews with McCartney & Wings in 1979, and with Starr in 1981 give a nice glimpse into their lives at the time. But the gem here is the Lennon interview from 1975, which was recorded right in the middle of his fight to stay in the United States, and which stands as his final televised interview. Included is Tom's show from December 9, 1980, where he rebroadcasts the 1975 interview with a few additional guests. The DVDs are available at the Shout! Factory Store.

Shoulda Been There by Jude Southerland Kessler
Massive new book that documents John Lennon’s life from 1940 to 1961. Nearly 800 pages trace the events that motivated his desire to become a famous rock star, along with the day-by-day activities of the early Beatles. Over 20 years of research and interviews went into the book, which is written with a "factional" approach to effectively recreate events and conversations. The book is finely padded out with a timeline, pictures, a Scouse glossary, and most importantly an indispensible section containing short biographies of the main characters involved in early Beatles history. The book is available at On The Rock Books.
